I was listening to a friend tell me about the struggle her parents were going through in terms of gearing up to sell their home and buy one in a new location. It seemed the problem stemmed from her father being used to being in charge, yet the selling and buying of property wasn't something he was familiar with, and this was slowing down the process. Finally, he realized that estate agents are there for a reason! He realized that he would still ultimately decide how things went, in terms of if he'd sell at a certain price or not, and what he'd buy at a certain price or not, but was able to let someone else facilitate the process. My friend was glad to see her dear old dad able to go through this kind of growth process. This was actually a big deal for him. With the greater peace of mind this has brought him, she said her father has been much more open to discussing a greater geographic range of places they might move to, which was what her mother had been aiming for, saying that with greater flexibility in location, there's more chance of finding just the right house and price range.

Being a property investor in the German real estate sites is becoming more appealing as investors from around the world look to capitalize on this industrial economic engine of Europe. There are only 4 German REITs in existence today, but as the international demand for German real estate grows it's likely that there will be more introduced in the near future.
The solid economic conditions in Germany are a good sign to real estate investors in Germany, as the country leads the Euro region in recovery following the 2008 downturn. Not surprisingly, German REITs have outperformed those of other countries in the region .since 2008, but this year they have so far trailed the broader market. The German REIT index got hit hard in the latest market rout, falling a total of 26% from its high on July 26th while the DAX fell 19% in the same time period.
